In September 2015, Ikanke Essien and I were sponsored by Trama's Auto School to complete our Motorcycle Safety Foundation RiderCoach Prep Course. It's a certification needed in order to become RiderCoaches! Once completed, it was mandatory that we each worked with Veteran RiderCoaches until we became more familiar with the information we needed to teach. This meant that Ikanke and I would always be on different schedules and only saw each other in passing.
After all these years, the Motorcycle Gods aligned and so did our our schedules. Ikanke and I finally ran the show together! "We" were the Veteran RiderCoaches in charge of the Range this past weekend! So exciting to make it to this point!
There's nothing I love more than being a part of someone's life changing experience. Its exciting to teach our students information that is going to change their lives in so many positive ways. And then to watch them apply that info when they are riding across the range for the first time is amazing! I cry. Seriously. hahaha. I almost always shed a few tears of joy and happiness because I know its a moment, a day and weekend that they will never forget and I'm so excited to be a part of! Everyone should give it a try!
At the start of a Motorcycle Class, you never know what you're going to get. There are so many variables; riding levels, stress and anxiety levels, personalities, weather, time, incidents and so on. Ikanke and I were blessed with an awesome group of students. They were eager to learn, grasped concepts quickly and made teaching them a great experience! Every class is of course going to have a few issues here and there. Fortunately, this biker gang was patient when shit went south and didn't skip a beat when getting back at it! Like true motorcycle riders!
A shout-out to the Ladies of the Range this past weekend! There were five in total, myself included. That's almost half the amount of students out there! Watch out boys, we're taking over!! As a matter of fact, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate one of our female students for being the only student to receive a 100% on her skills evaluation. Great job! Next, our youngest student, also female, isn't event 21 yrs old yet. I'm so proud of her for having the courage to be out there on the range especially since most adults are too scared to even give it a shot!! Yes girl yes!
One last final congratulations to everyone!! We all did an amazing job this weekend! Thank you for being a rockstar class. It was an honor teaching you! Ikanke and I wish you all the best on your new two wheel journey. Come back and visit any time!! Val G!
